Storm Mountain Fire Break is a nice resort-like backcountry run with minimal exposure. A popular place for those new to backcountry skiing or looking for something a little safer when stability is an issue. You’ll also find a few man-made kickers if you’re looking to send. Don’t be surprised to see that it is skied out – it is popular here.
Park at the Stanley Glacier Parking Area. You can either follow the road northwards and skin directly up the fire break, or start by following the Stanley Glacier trail by crossing the creek, then heading north while gradually gaining elevation. The fire break is self explanatory but there is a short but steep slope overhead that may pose some danger.
